Gieppner
worked as a line producer on numerous film productions in Germany and
France. His first own production through his German company MGF was Beautiful
Casamance, an investigative documentary about the Independent Movement
in the South of Senegal, providing an inside view about the French politics
in the former colonies in Western Africa.
Since then MGF has developed and co-produced Heute, Morgen,
Übermorgen, The Trip (short films), Le
Passacoeur (drama) and Dancing to a different drummer
(documentary), before Gieppner formed the French company DIMENSION 7.
D7 then continued the productions and developments, while MGF handles
world sales of international documentaries and features, as well as the
theatrical releases of Le Voyage de Baba and the compelling
documentary Moruroa-Le Grand Secret
by Michel Daeron.
DIMENSION 7 has completed two documentaries, Waiting for
the Wave and Searching for DaCat for the "THEME" program
slot of the French-German broadcaster ARTE. Short afterwards followed
Music Goes to War, a powerful Anglo-French music documentary
together with the International Committee of the Red Cross and Channel
Four, featuring renown African musicians such as Youssou N'Dour,
Papa Wemba, Salif Keita among others, jamming against violence in
Africa. Bassek Ba Kobhio directed the film.
Since 1997, Gieppner lives in New York City where he works as a consultant
for international film sales and continues to distribute and produce films.
After the weekly TV show SUPLA IN NEW YORK for Bandeirantes
TV, Brazil, (Executive producer: Monica Rocha), 18b JUSTICE
by Félix Olivier is his latest
production.
In addition, MGF International Inc. designs e-commerce web sites and computer
systems.
